Title: The Temptation to Rely on Myself Instead of God

Scripture: Matthew 4:1-4; Deuteronomy 8:1-10

Speaker: Pastor Ben Jennings

Date: May 17, 2023 (Wednesday Evening Service)

We can face the temptation of sinful self-reliance making four recognitions.

1. It takes God’s Word to identify temptation. (Matthew 4:1-4)

2. It takes humility to trust in God’s provision. (Deut. 8:1-3)

3. When we trust we will experience God’s provision. (Deut. 8:4-9)

4. When God provides, we should bless God in response. (Deut. 8:10)
